Childhood Everlasting

   Course description: Learn how to structure your business for success in children’s photography. Karen and Kristin will carefully teach you many important and often overlooked ideas that will bring your clients back again and again. With an emphasis on studio photography they will guide you through the design consultation, posing & lighting, kid-friendly studio design, techniques for working with children, marketing, management, pricing, sales, and workflow. Karen will share her Lightroom techniques and Kristin will work her Photoshop magic on images taken during the workshop. Their mission is to inform, inspire and empower you to become a world-class children’s photographer.

Basic course outline:
Sunday - Business Management and Marketing
Monday - Design Consultation, kid-friendly studio design, techniques for working with children, setting expectations, and pricing
Tuesday - Posing and lighting, photograph models, workflow and Lightroom
Wednesday - Continue Lightroom if needed, creating image presentations for clients, sales, and Photoshop workflow
Thursday - Photoshop continued and wrap up

A little bit about Karen . . .

Since 1984, Karen Rubin has been capturing first moments and family milestones for clients who see life as fine art. Today, with an abundance of photographers specializing in children's images, Karen is even more intent on identifying the spark of individuality in each person that will separate the finished portrait from the typical and trendy. The result is portraiture that makes a clear statement about the personality and essence of the person. Her portraits avoid gimmicks and special effects in favor of something far more satisfying: dynamic expression and composition sprinkled with delicate simplicity. Her work is a breath of fresh air--it reflects a personal style that is incredibly successful and almost instantly identifiable. Karen sets the standard for excellence in photography, and her integrity and unselfish nature is evident in every aspect of her business.

Karen received her Master of Photography degree from the Professional Photographer’s of America (PPA). She also holds their Photographic Craftsman degree and she is a Certified Professional Photographer. Karen is a Colorado Councilor for PPA and she serves on the Ethics Committee for Professional Photographers of Colorado. Awards received include six prestigious Kodak Gallery Awards and four Fuji Masterpiece Awards.

A little bit about Kristin . . .

  Kristin Adams is Karen Rubin Photography's Creative Director and oversees the production of the cherished portraits and products that are delivered to their clients. With the company for over seven years, she has mastered nearly all aspects of the business including client relations, studio and office management, sales, graphic design, post production, and retouching.

Kristin was named General Photographer of the Year by Professional Photographers of Colorado in 2009 and received the Kodak Gallery award, Best in Show, 1st place General Portrait, 1st place General Illustrative and Court of Honor. She has dabbled in photography for over 17 years and started her own pet photography business in 2008 www.kristin-adams.com which is growing steadily and brings her much happiness.
